Sales In A Bad Economy Is It Possible?

This is a question that is going through everyones minds as they are struggling. Some companies are doing well, to holding their own, while many are not.
It is what separates the companies or individuals that are doing well from those that are struggling, that we need to study in-order to improve our home businesses.
Earlier this month I had the opportunity to spend 4 days working with Glenn Hood and Mark Hood with the company Big Ear Inc. at the 2008 Las Vegas BikeFest.
The attendance this year, was less then last year, yet if you factor in the decrease in potential customers at this show they actually came out ahead versus last years sales.
What I found important is the shear number of business cards handed out to potential customers. While their initial focus was on hearing protection products for motorcyclists, they continue to expand into other markets to protect individuals hearing.
I have to confess, what I learned in this trade show environment was invaluable. Glenn and Mark made it a point to make their sales process both serious and entertaining simultaneously.
What I thought was extremely important was when previous customers would walk by, stop and talk to the people looking at their products.
Every one of the of them would state how much they loved their particular Big Ear Inc product, whether that was the BE-SP Solid Ear Plugs to the BE-1C Stereo ear plugs designed for motorcyclists.
They would also talk about how skeptical they where in the beginning at the price of these products. One of the overwhelming statements was about the customer service and Big Ear’s response to make it right.
A great warranty goes a long way especially when your customers will backup what your saying.
You just cannot buy that kind of advertising, it just goes to prove how word of mouth is without a doubt the most powerful method of marketing for any product or service.
Over all it was a great experience, with some great lessons learned along with some great observations. Today’s economy makes it tough for any business, yet those with a quality product, superior customer service will always continue to do well in any market! Big Ear Inc. is a great home based business model, if you’re not afraid to get out and meet people.
