Should You Keep Your Personal Social Media Separate From Your Home Business.

Social media does open up new methods of marketing. Yet, with it comes other challenges as well.

The question is we have to ask ourselves is it in our best interest to keep our social media business separate from our friends and family members.

The other day I read a great post over on copyblogger.com titled, "Who Do You Trust For Online Business Advice?"

It really made me stop and rethink about my facebook account. As a network marketers I am always having people follow me on twitter.

Quite often after I follow them back I get a direct message, that indicates they also want to connect on facebook!

This should raise a red flag, yet for most people it does not. No one in their right mind would invite a complete stranger into their home...

...Yet, we'll gladly give them access to our friends and family members.

The post over at copyblogger, really hammered it home that today there are a lot of "Scorpions" out there marketing today.

...And, since we've added them as a friend guess what? They will eventually show up on facebook in the upper right corner under Suggestions and you'll be listed as a mutual friend!

You've just given them credibility to your friends and family, and yet you don't even really know them!

It really comes down to if you're running any kind of home business, want to play it safe. Keep your friends and family members insulated from the scorpions out there today.

If you have a twitter account and a facebook account, think about getting two different accounts. On for personal use and one for business use, then you'll never have to worry about getting an angry phone call...

Facebook policy does not allow users to create more than 1 personal or company profile. They can however create many fan pages. You gotta think about how great of a marketing strategy it is if you start by breaking the rules of the site you are on or the country you are in (as in robocalls and spam).
