Marketing Collateral Is it Part of your Home Business model?

August 19, 2008 by Glenn

Collateral marketing is one of the most misunderstood facets of marketing today, especially when it comes to those involved in home business. This is method of marketing is a suberb way to gain the trust and confidence of your customers.

Many companies practice this method of marketing, have you ever been into a Costco and sampled the food that has been prepared? They are practicing collateral marketing to a degree, by giving you a free sample you can make a decision whether you want to actually purchase the product while your at the store.

Marketing Collateral pieces include but are not limited to:

  • Reports
  • Business Cards
  • Pamphlets / Brochures
  • CD’s - DVD’s
  • Product Samples

Take the company Avon, for more years then I can remember they’ve always provided small catalogs that there representatives could leave with a previous customer or what could be a potentially new customer.

Keep in mind that you do need to have established a marketing budget inorder to successfully utilize the collateral marketing methods successfully in your home business.

Many often question, is this method really worth it? Of corse it is, it has been proven to far outperform other marketing methods. When used effectively online it has proven to outperform online marketing at least ten to one.

Collateral marketing opens the door for you but it’s still up to you to take that open door and convert it into sales with proper follow-up.

In the next post I’ll discuss:

Should you send a physical collateral marketing piece or a free online report?
