Using Blogger For Your Home Business Blog

June 21, 2008 by Glenn

There are literally thousands of home business owners out there today building web sites and blogging sites. There are companies that will sell you complete packages with all the tools you will need to be successful, but are all these tools really necessary?

Being successful on the internet requires the same commitment and time that you will have to put into your business. Consistent action is the keys to success. A word of caution here if you’re not willing to commit to a several year project, do not start a web site period.

Blogger, which is owned by google gives you a simple, easy to use blog that you can have up and running in almost no time at all. Over the course of the next few months I’ll be taking you through the process of getting your site up, along with a few insights on how to make it a great site.

The first thing you’ll need to get started is:

  1. gmail address. - Once you have your email address it is easy to setup your blog site at blogger.com.
  2. Next you’ll need to head on over to blogger.com, create a blog. The user name and password will be the same as your gmail address.

When choosing the name for you blog, think about branding yourself first. Having keywords in your domain name are not really necessary and more then likely you’ll not find anything that you’ll really like.

It’s important to remember the domain name and title are two different things. The domain name will remain constant, while you can change the title of the site at will.

Don’t worry to much right now about which template you’ll need, just pick one that you like. You will later learn that you can change the template at any time.

All of the search engines agree, build a web site for your visitors and you’ll do great. Write good articles that are genuine and original. Don’t fall for the hype and try to look for any tricks or tips, Google, Yahoo, Ask, Live all spell it out perfectly clear for us.
