Every Home Business Needs A WebSite
Then we have to decide if we want to do it ourself or out source it to another company? Today building a website seems like it cannot get any easier.
We can build a static website using software like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Or we can utilize software like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, Insight Creation to build very dynamic websites. By far the easiest to use is Wordpress!
Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, ranging from ease of use to level of support. This site started life as a static website build originally with Frontpage, later redesigned with Dreamweaver.
Eventually it was migrated to Wordpress, then to its present form based on Drupal. The migration to Drupal was based on design and flexibility.
While Drupal is more difficult to learn and use, the ability to expand it from a basic site to a full community center is unmatched.
When it comes to a home business, it does not matter if you're local or worldwide with your products or services, today you need a web presence!
Three Books I Always Within Arms Reach.
Have taught me more about building websites than anything else I’ve read.
The first is, "The Principles of Beautiful Web Design" is a must have for any small or home business owner that wants to either design their website or have the knowledge to converse with their web designer.
After reading this it really is true, "You don't need to go to art school to design great looking web sites!
This second book HTML UTOPIA: Designing Without Tables Using CSS is without a doubt my most used reference when it comes to web design Today.
I find myself looking into this book almost daily looking for solutions for anything from font properties to image placement.
The third book I keep on my desk, "The CSS Anthology: 101 Essential Tips, Tricks & Hacks has saved me countless hours. If you're not using CSS code everday, it's hard to remember everything.
If you're beginning your CSS education, this book is an essential part of your tool chest.
